The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, was established in February 2019 by the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi to bring together the government, private sector, civil society, and local community to support Abu Dhabi’s sustainable social development goals. Ma’an creates social impact through an extensive array of programmes designed to address social priorities across Abu Dhabi. The Authority empowers the growth of a thriving third sector of nonprofits, social enterprises, and volunteer groups via a range of funding and certification programmes, sustainable financial contracting models and volunteer activation initiatives. As the government of Abu Dhabi’s official channel to receive social contributions from businesses and individuals, the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an mobilises funding to support initiatives in sectors including health, education, environment, social, and infrastructure.
